on the Least of our Neighbours

Statistics and I , like my equi-amenmity with my beloved , erstwhile kitty Chaos ( ✝ ), have a love/hate relationship.

How could I not love the exploration of chaos? - I , a person so enamored with the bits of asymetry to be gleaned from a choppy see of whiteness.

But , in some yet unfathomed product of evolution of our minds and the riding consciousnesses , I could not abide statistics : the discipline grated on my science soul and I knew exactly why -- I could shine a laser to pinpoint the root of my discomfort. Least Squares was a shortcut , a lazy route that left information as if one could afford such carelessness and untidiness. And such irked me , and so deeply , I never trusted the discipline ; an attitude of utility in the last years as the paltry parsimonious value revealed itself as the P value and most useful of conjuring trick of the various high profits.

in the universe scheme , every bit counts ; the maths exact. and consciousness is all built from the same bits of energy and time - whether it can walk like in a snail or a lover - or not , as a plant or the woven myceliumated matts of roots and fungi that permeate an eco-system miles and miles and even kilometers deep. What or who is the least of our neighbours? - I know who the least of the maths are : i - the imaginary one - which got left on the wayside when we got lazy and ceased to understand our world.
